  • “Teacher of the Year” in 2009

    Pierre-Emmanuel Desage and James Robert Degulis, two of the foreign teachers in SAU, are awarded “Teacher of the Year” again by the People’s Government of Sichuan. This is the 4th time that another two of our foreign teachers gain the title for our university.

  • U.S. Well-known Professor of Poultry Science Came (December 9-12)

    Dr. Paul Siegel, Professor Virginia University U.S. in poultry science, came to SAU for academic exchanges. Dr. Paul Siegel, accompanied by Prof. Zhu Qing, the Deputy President of SAU, visited our school exhibition hall, the campus and some key- laboratories. He carried out academic exchanges and discussions with our teachers and students on relevant fields and wide scope. Dr. Paul Siegel, the well-known professor of poultry science, was once the editor of 《Poultry Science》.

  • Academic Exchanges between Hiroshima University and SAU (Nov. 19-21)

    Two professors of Hiroshima University ,Japan paid us a academic visit to discuss co-operation issues between two universities.

  • Academic Exchanges between Adelaide University Australia and SAU China (Nov. 15-22)

    Prof. Margaret Cargill, College of Earth and Environmental Sciences of Adelaide University of Australia, came to SAU to conduct activities of a seven-day academic exchange on how to enhance English paper-writing ability with our teachers and students.

  • Internationally Renowned Wheat-Diseases Specialist Conducted Academic Exchanges in SAU (Nov. 10-12)

    Prof. R.A.McIntosh (Sydney University Australia), an internationally renowned specialist on wheat diseases and the new chairman of International Wheat Gene Nomenclature Committee, came to SAU to conduct activities of a three-day academic exchange.

  • Top Maize Scientists Came to Make Offers to SAU Oct. 21

    Mr. Tom Lumpkin, General Director of CIMMYT (the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center), escorted by Dr. He Zhonghu, Top Post Scientist of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Dr. Xu Biyun, maize breeding scientist of CIMMYT, came to SAU to make an offer to enhance co-operation with SAU in a new style.

  • Japanese Professor Yamaguchi’s 45 Working Days in Sichuan

    From August 11 to September 25, Prof. Yamaguchi, had his 45 busy working days in the Rice Institute and Adversity-biology Laboratory of Sichuan Agricultural University. During the period, he mainly guided students to undertake the purification analysis study of natural products and molecular structure of bacillus isolated from a certain fruit of a plant with NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance instrument). He made co-operation with Prof. Zhang Xiaoping (SAU) to isolated new actinomycetes to study anti-rice sheath blight—one of the agricultural micro-organisms of natural products (including the active ingredient and the new fluorescent substances).

  • An Academic Report Given by Dr. Adeola, U.S.A. ( October 12 -13)

    Dr Olayiwola Adeola, Professor of Animal Science Department of Purdue University U.S.A. came to our Animal Nutrition Institute and made an academic report. Dr Adeola is mainly engaged in the nutrition research of monogastric animals, amino acids and mineral elements. He has done a good job and well-known in the duck nutrition science and nutritive value of duck feeds.

  • Academic Exchanges between SAU and Three Japanese Universities(Sept. 17- 21)

    Three visitors of specialists from Japanese universities (Hiroshima Prefectural University, Junior College in Southern Kyushu, and Hokkaido College of Senshu University), came to visit our university and made practical academic exchanges with our specialists in such issues as higher educational system, economic personnel training, rural land property right system of two countries and so on.

  • Visitors from South Korea Sept. 11

    Prof. In Ho Kim, Dean of NURI FOODBIO CONSORTIUM Dankook University South Korea, came for a visit and made an offer in cooperation with our Animal Nutrition Institute. Received by our Prof. Zhang Keying, he and his three officials made a successful visit.

  • The First Doctorate Foreign Student Checked In This Month

    Ms Mindi Schneider, developmental sociology doctorate student of Cornell University USA, has come to further her study in SAU. She is the first doctorate foreign student of SAU and will further her doctorate study in SAU for fourteen months (Oct. 2009 - Dec. 2010).

  • SAU’s Technology of Crossbreed Rice Interests Guests from East Timor Oct. 17

    Escorted by Mr. Hu Yuancong, Ambassador of Chinese Embassy in East Timor, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, Premier of East Timor, led a delegation of 16 and made a visit to our Chengdu Scientific Academy. The delegation, interested in the technology of crossbreed rice, are made up of such distinguished guests as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Finance, Minister of Infrastructure, Natural Resources Secretary of State, East Timor's Ambassador in China, Secretary-General of the Foreign Ministry, Special Adviser to the Premier, Finance Minister Consultant, Administrative Consultant Secretary to the State Natural Resources, Personal Assistant to the Premier, Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Administrative Assistant to the Minister of Finance. Prof. Deng Liangji, the Party Secretary of SAU, received them and hosted a welcome meeting with Prof. Zhu Qing, the Deputy President of SAU. Prof. Jiang Guoling, the Deputy Party Secretary of Chengdu Scientific Academy and Prof. Li Ping, Dean of the Rice Institute were present at the meeting and introduced the development of their research programs. The guests were all ears. Then there was a practicable discussion about the technological issues of crossbreed rice and relative training program for foreign students in the Institute. Later, the guests were escorted to visit the labs of the Rice Institute. The Premier, Mr. Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, showed great interest in this visit and made us a very good impression.

  • Sino-Russia Academic Exchange in SAU, Sept. 7-10

    Dr. Victor S. Kovalev, Deputy Director of Russian Rice Institute(ARRRI), and Mr. NaumenkoV.P,Dean of the Seed-engineering Office, made an academic exchange in the Rice Institute of SAU. They were purposely invited by Dr Zhu Jianqing, one of the specialists of Seed-engineering Institute SAU, and made their first visit in SAU.

  • About Sino-America Turf Management Program, Sept. 9

    A Coordination Meeting was held in SAU to enhance the Sino-America Turf Management Program. Mr. Zhu Qing, Depute President of SAU, hosted the meeting and emphatically made some directions about the funds and students affairs of the program. Workers of the program were all ears.

  • Development of Sino-America Turf Management Program, Sept. 7

    The Program, up to now, has admitted 15 new students this year. The 65 students of Grade 2006, 31 of whom are from SAU, have entered their third school year by now and are to be taught by American teachers. The first American teacher, Prof. Li Hui from Michigan State University, is to arrive on Sptm.13 to give lessons in SAU.

  • 2009 State Funds of Studying-abroad Programs in SAU

    We have 4 applicants of the program this year and up to now two of them have been admitted. Besides, we have 19 applicants for the Western Programs at home.

  • About Foreign Teachers

    The Language College has signed two more foreign teachers. One is from Ireland and the other is from UK.

  • About “International Chinese Training Program”, Sept 4

    A new trainee from Japan signed up for Chinese study in SAU. He, Miyazaki Satoru by name, will study in the International Chinese Training Center for one semester.

  • Sino-India Academic Exchange in SAU, Aug. 21-23

    Dr. Raina Satish Kumar, first advisor of Nath Group India & rice-breeding scientist, made an academic visit in the Rice Institute of SAU. He was purposely invited by Dr Zhu Jianqing, Dean of the Seed-engineering Lab SAU, for an academic exchange

  • Sino-Finland Academic Exchange, Aug. 8-16

    Prof. Stina, Helsinki University, paid us a visit for an academic exchange in microbiology.

  • A Study Group of International Potato Center Came to SAU, Aug. 5

    A study group of International Potato Center, headed by Dr. Juan A. Landeo, the famous potato breeding scientist and director of CIP programs, made an on-the-spot investigation in our potato program and visited our Agricultural College.

  • A Sino-Finland Post Graduate Exchange Program Is Under Way (July 18-28)

    Dr. Petri, Helsinki University Finland, is on his business trip in SAU for 10 days to work on the application report of “Cooperative Microbiology MS Program of SAU & HU”.

  • About Students Summer Vacation Activities, July 15-22

    It’s great of our two students, Yin Feng and Zhang Baoyi by name, respectively from Technology & Engineering College and Animal Science College, to take part in “The Youth of Taiwan & the Mainland Eco-humanities Summer Camp” hosted by Sichuan University.

  • Academic Exchange in the College of Animal Science & Technology, Jun. 30- Jul. 6

    Dr. Christopher D. Lu, life-long professor of Hawaii University US and former director of the International Goat Association, was invited to make a one-week academic exchange and visit in our College of Animal Science & Technology.

    Sichuan Higher Educational Foreign Affairs Forum is held in the meeting hall of our International Academic Exchange Center. Officials of Sichuan Provincial Educational Bureau and 32 representatives of the 22 universities in Sichuan are present.

  • Academic Visit of Kabul University Afghanistan, June 9-10

    An academic visiting group of 11 from Kabul University, led by Prof. Gul Mohammad Ajir, came for a valuable study trip in SAU.

  • Lectures Delivered by Australian Professors, May 26-29

    Two Professors, Margaret Cargill and Kate Cadman by name, from the School of Earth & Environmental Sciences Adlaide University Australia, came to give lectures on how to write a paper in English and introduced some writing skills. Each of their lectures had a full house.

  • Large Scale Sino-Germany Academic Exchange in SAU, May 30-June 6

    An educational group of Borne University Germany came to SAU for an academic exchange. The group is made up of 23 students of animal science major, 5 teachers and 2 officials of Agriculture & Environment of Nordrhein Westfalen. This exchange is said to be the greatest in scale, largest in number of people and the longest in time during the latest years.

  • About Sino-America Academic Exchange, May 7

    Prof. Frank Shotkoski, Cornell University of USA, delivered a lecture in the auditorium of Yifu Building in the afternoon. Many of our students and teachers had a wonderful time, it is said.

  • A Return Visit of Japanese Friends, May 4

    Dr. Ishizaka, President of Yamanashi pref. Norin High School Japan, led a delegation of three to pay a return visit to us. The High School’s first visit was made by the former president Dr. Kubota in 2006. We paid a return visit to them in 2007 and we two parties have made a great friendship.

Zingale, Headmaster of Kaboskil Agriculture and Technology Campus of New York State University, came for an academic visit and signed academic cooperative agreement with us. They were fortunate to be present at the opening ceremony of our 35th School Sports Meeting, they said.

    A delegation of 18 from Thai Binh Province Viet Nam paid a friendly visit to our High-tech Agricultural Cor. Ltd. SAU and our Chengdu Scientific Academy.

  • Development of CSC-SUNY Program

    CSC-SUNY, the scholarship for the earthquake-stricken area, goes smoothly. With the help of our students studying in America, we have established formal relationship with Cobleskill College of New York State University, whose president delegation will pay us a visit and sign an academic exchange agreement on April 24.

  • A Delegation of Thai Binh Province Vietnam Visited SAU, Apr. 4


     A Delegation of 18 from Thai Binh Province Vietnam visited High-tech Agriculture Co. Ltd. and newly founded Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Chengdu. Mr. Zhu Qing, Vice President of SAU, received them and made a welcome speech. He introduced an overview of SAU to the guests and spoke highly of the agricultural cooperation between Thai Binh Province Vietnam and High-tech Agriculture Co. Ltd. SAU. He also showed great concern to the cooperation and promised to try his best to support other cooperation in larger scale and more fields. Mr. Pei, Party Secretary of Thai Binh Province, appreciated the cordial reception and made acknowledgement of the help and support made by the host during the past years. He also showed great interest in the new rural construction model and its achievements in Sichuan and hope to make further and longer cooperation in the future.

  • A “Never-Give-Up” Speech Given by an American Scholar, Apr.2

    In the afternoon of April 2, Dr. Randy, an American scholar from Texas, made a never-give-up speech in Dujiangyan Branch of SAU. More than 400 students of the branch were deeply moved by him. He said his hands were wounded in an accident of electric shock when he was 17 and as a proverb has it that misfortune never comes singly; he totally lost his two arms at the age of 18 when he had his work-study program in a workshop supervised by a careless boss. Disabled man as he is, he has overcome unbelievable difficulties before making it and got his degrees of BS in mechanic engineering, MA in ancient history and religion and DCL in success-science. Showing how he lives in his daily life with a pair of mechanic device he maneuver on the stage and made his listeners a very deep impression before he told them, “Never give up!”

  • Scholars from Bonn Germany Came to SAU, March 24

    Headed by Prof. Hamer from Food Safety Institute of Bonn University Germany and Dr. Jager, the Chief Vet of Nordrhein Westfalen Germany, a delegation came for an academic exchange and cooperation. Mr. Deng Liangji, the Party Secretary, received them and introduced the development of our disciplines and specialties. He also mentioned the “May 12 Wenchuan Earthquake” and introduced the state scientific supporting program of modern agricultural technology that we take up for the after-the-earthquake reconstruction of Anxian County Sichuan. The German guests offered to cooperate with us in the fields of food safety and animal health, which, they said, had been approved by the agricultural ministries of Germany and China. They hope to implement the cooperative programs with the joint efforts of the governments and universities of Germany and China. Then further discussion was made and Prof. Zhang Xiaoping, Head of the International Office of Exchange and Cooperation, and leaders of Veterinary College and Food Engineering College of SAU were present.

  • Development of CSC-SUNY Program

    CSC-SUNY, the scholarship for the earthquake-stricken area, goes smoothly. With the help of our students studying in America, we have established formal relationship with Cobleskill College of New York State University, whose president delegation will pay us a visit and sign an academic exchange agreement on April 24.

  • News of the Study Abroad Fund of 2009

    The application for the state fund of 2009 to study abroad has come to an end. This year we have paid great attention to the work and encouraged our teachers to apply for the fund to study abroad and up to now we have 23 applicants.

     

  • A Japanese Student Came to Study Chinese in SAU

    Feb. 27, another Japanese student, Erika Toyama by name, was enlisted to study Chinese in the Chinese Training Center of SAU. She will study for a semester according to her plan.

     

  • A 32-Teacher-Student Delegation of Hong Kong Visited Our Dujiangyan Branch

    Jan.18, 2009, a 32-teacher-student delegation of Hong Kong Chinese University came to our Dujiangyan Branch for a visit of academic exchange. They had a very happy get-together with an equal group of our teachers and students. The party was held in the library hall and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. Leaders of the hosts and guests exchanged greetings and opinions. They expressed their hope to bridge their relationship and friendship in the future academic exchange and cooperation. The guests were greatly touched and concerned about the “5.12 earthquake” that the area suffered and the heroic spirit the local people expressed in the disaster.  A short play “Mainland Students Studying in Hong Kong” was put on by the guests and it brought up a climax as everybody sang in chorus “Sichuan, Sichuan, I love you! Sichuan, Sichuan, I support you!” The party really made everyone a very deep impression and couldn’t tear themselves away. In the end, souvenirs were exchanged and both parties had a great day in the spring festival atmosphere.
