Three American New Teachers Arrived
At the beginning of this semester (September 2008), three new American teachers arrived at our campus on invitation. They will join our teachers in language teaching for one year.
Our Students of CSC-SUNY Scholarship Flied to US
Eight undergraduates of SAU flied to US to study in New York State University on August 15, 2008. They are financed by the CSC-SUNY scholarship, which is purposely to support Sichuan area by the US government for it was visited by the strong earthquake of this May. It is reported that they have arrived at the destination safe and sound and will begin their study for one year in each of the departments they belong to. Their tuitions and accommodations are to be paid by the host according to the scholarship program.
Sino-Israel Academic Exchanges in SAU
On July 13, 2008, Mr. Raanan Katzir, the water-saving agronomist of Israel, came to SAU for a seven-day visit of academic exchanges. He delivered 8 lectures of his specialty and visited quite a few farms in the counties of Shuangliu, Pixian, Renshou and Anxian while offering his specialist opinions to the farmers who were visited by the disaster of Wenchuan earthquake in May.
Sino-Denmark Academic Exchanges in SAU
On July 6, 2008, Dr. Per Torp Sangild, Professor of Human Nutrition Dpt. of Copenhagen University, came for a tow-day visit in SAU. He made some academic exchanges with our specialists of the Animal Nutrition Dept. College of Animal Science & Technology SAU.
Activities of the International Goat Science Association in SAU
Dr. Christopher D•Lu, President of the International Goat Science Association came to SAU for a two-day visit. He delivered two lectures and each had a full house.
Canadian and American Scientists Attended Our Seminar
From June 27 to 29, 2008, the National Seminar of Pig & Poultry Anti-Diseases Nutrition & Feed was held in SAU. Prof. Trevor K. Smith (Canada) and Dr. Jorge Marin Guzman (Elliot University USA) were present at the meeting.
A Higher Educational Delegation of SAU Made Academic Visit in S. Korea
Invited by Kyungpook National University S. Korea, from April 19 to April 29, 2008, a higher educational delegation of SAU, led by Mr. Qin Ziqiang, Deputy Secretary of SAU, returned an academic visit to Kyungpook National University. The delegation of eight members were warmly welcomed and received by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences of Kyungpook National University.
Guest of South Korea Came to SAU
Mr. Cui Kingri, our distinguished guest of S. Korea, came to the Animal Nutrition Institute of SAU for a two-day inspection of an experiment.
Sino-Canada Academic Exchange in SAU (April 21—22, 2008)

Sino-Australia Academic Exchange in SAU
Prf. R.A.McIntosh, Sidney University of Australia, came to SAU for a four-day academic exchange (March 31—April 3, 2008). He is one of the world-famous scientists in wheat-diseases research work and plays the first fiddle in the International Wheat Gene Nomenclature Committee.
Sino-America Cooperative Educational Turf-grass Management Program Has Born Fruits
On June 14, 2008, the first commencement ceremony of Sino-America Cooperative Educational Turf-grass Management Program (BS) was held in the library meeting-hall of Beijing Forestry University. Twenty six students were awarded BS degree in the presence of their headmasters and leaders, who were from five program universities home and abroad. These five program universities are Michigan Stae University of US, Sichuan Agricultural University, Beijing Forestry University, Northeast Agricultural University and Suzhou Agricultural & Forestry Vocational College.
The commencement ceremony was chaired by Mr. Jeffrey Armstrong, Rector of Agricultural & Natural Resources College of Michigan State University, in the formal style of MSU. All the five leaders made congratulating speech at the ceremony. Mr. Yang Wenyu, Deputy President of SAU, said that he wish all the graduates a bright future and a happy life. He was sure that they will make great contribution to the country. He also showed gratitude to the workers of the program.
The Program began in 2003.and this time SAU has 10 graduates, who, similar to the rest, have been awarded a double degree of BS from MSU and SAU with a diploma of SAU.
Studying Abroad State Funds Program 2008 in SAU
There are 8 applicants of “Studying Abroad State Funds Program 2008” in SAU this year. Five of them are ranked to be the candidates of the “Specialist-Training Program of the West” and the rest three, “Young Visiting Key-Teacher Program”, have been admitted.
Japanese Loan Training Program in SAU
This year, 2008, sees the completion of the “Japanese Loan Training Program” in SAU according to the plan.

Taiwanese and Japanese Students of SAU Donated Wenchuan Earthquake
Yang Rouying (Taiwan) donated ¥2,500.
Abe Nobuko (Japan) donated ¥100.
Prof. Teruo Maeda (Hiroshima University of Japan) Came to SAU
March 23-25, 2008, Prof. Teruo Maeda, Hiroshima University Japan, came to SAU on business of arranging SAU’s postgraduates training classes of this summer vocation for in Hiroshima University. SAU is one of the universities which have signed cooperative agreement of academic exchanges with Hiroshima University.
Japanese Student Matsumoto Eiichi Came to Register in SAU
On March 1, 2008, Matsumoto Eiichi, the second Japanese student of SAU, was registered. Matsumoto, who was going to study Chinese in the Chinese Language Training Center of SAU for a semester, was warmly welcomed in the center.
Academic Exchange of SAU and KNU (Kyungpook National University of S. Korea
Jan. 16-19, 2008, a delegation of 4 members led by Prof. Jae-Dong Chung, a senior scientist in botanical technology and organic culture, an old friend of SAU and the former Rector of Agriculture and Life Sciences College of Kyungpook National University South Korea, paid us another visit. Two horticultural scientists, Dr. Lim Kibyun and Dr. Cheol, each, made an academic report and both had a full house. The guests were escorted by Mr.Wen, the President, around some horticultural labs of SAU. The whole visit was successful.
Vietnamese Delegation Came to Visit SAU
A Vietnamese provincial delegation of 26 members made a new-year visit tour in SAU on January 4, 2008. There has been one Vietnamese student studying in SAU.
First Foreign Student Won MS in SAU
Nguyen The Luong,( Vietnamese postgraduate) completed his MS- degree study this month( Jan. 2008) under the guidance of 3 associated professors of SAU: Den Junliang, Liu Changsong and Peng Guangneng.
